报告摘要:
Investigation of human balancing is becoming more and more nowadays, because many falls can be connected to the loss of balance. Our goal is to characterize the improvement of balancing ability by repeating a simple and well-defined balancing task five times over a 5-month period. Different stabilometry parameters are used to indicate changes in balancing ability. Improving tendency of the parameters can be observed in case of all balancing subjects, which shows that the balance board is a convenient tool to measure and improve the balancing ability. In order to use a mechanical approach of balancing ability improvement, balancing on rolling balance board in the anterior-posterior plane is analyzed using a two DoF mechanical model, where the human body is modeled by an inverted pendulum and the geometry of the balance board can be adjusted. Human nervous system is assumed to employ a proportional-derivative controller with constant feedback delay identical to the human reaction time. It is shown that a critical feedback delay exists for each geometry of the balance board. If the reaction delay is larger than the critical one, then there are no stabilizing control gains. A numerical algorithm was developed in order to find the critical time delay based on the mechanical model. The numerical results are compared with real balancing trials, and the corresponding feedback delays.
